Junior Thespian Troupe

In partnership with Seaside Neighborhood School, this ensemble of thespians are a chartered member of the Educational Theatre Association's Junior Thespians and will be competing at regional and state competition.   

 


TROUPE #89447 EMERALD COAST THEATRE COMPANY – SEASIDE SCHOOL, INC.

A Junior Thespian troupe is an honor society that recognizes and rewards excellence among the participants in the theatre arts program. Troupe #89447 is a partnership with Seaside Neighborhood School giving middle school students the opportuinty to expand their training and knowledge of the craft of theatre.

WHO CAN JOIN?

Any student in grade 6th - 8th (regardless of the school they attend) who is interested in developing personally in the craft of acting while creating a unique performance piece with fellow players. This troupe will focus on specialized training, acting techniques and implementing those techniques into performance.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR MY CHILD?

Benefits of Junior Thespian induction:

  • Membership in the only international honor society for junior high/middle school theatre arts students—a recognized demonstration of achievement and a valuable addition to college and employment applications.

  • An official Junior Thespian induction pin.

  • A personalized membership certificate.

  • A personalized membership card.

  • A bumper sticker that reads: Proud parent of a theatre arts honor student.

  • Ability to begin their high school careers with half of the Thespian points required for high school induction.

  • Leadership opportunities at the troupe and chapter levels (per chapter policy).

  • Eligibility to participate in individual events at chapter conferences and the National Individual Events Showcase (NIES) at Festival (per chapter policy).

  • Eligibility to receive Junior Thespian honor items (medallions, point stars, etc.).

  • Eligibility to receive Junior Thespian scholar distinction for academic achievement.

WILL THERE BE ADDITIONAL COSTS BEYOND THE TUITION FEE?*

Yes. Additional costs to be considered include accommodations, meal and travel expenses for any educational trips, as well as, performance fees and guest entry fees for parents/family to attend the competition as audience members.

WHO, WHEN, AND WHERE?

Heath Carroll, ECTC's Education and Outreach Director is leading Thespian Troupe along with an amazing team of professionals, and rehearsals will be held on Saturdays from 1:00-4:00pm at ECTC, 560 Grand Boulevard, Suite 200. Additional rehearsals and/or private coaching will be scheduled as needed.
